A direct descendant of Hone Heke, the famous warlike chief, among whose exploits figured the cutting down of the flagstaff at Kororareka, Airs H. Dargaville, of Kaikolie. has died at the age of CS. Airs Dargaville, whose Alaori name was Henare Alikara, was born in Kaikohe and lived there all her life. The two sons, both doctors of medicine, of Dr. and Airs T. A. AlacGibbon, of Christchurch, arc serving with the Royal Air Force in England. The elder, Squadron-Leader George AlacGibbon, who is permanently attached to the Royal Air Force, is probably the first New Zealander serving as a doctor to gain Ids wings. The younger son, Flight-Lieutenant Alistair AlacGibbon, is serving for the duration of the war.
