PERSONAL.
A motion of sympathy with Mrs F. J. Nathan, of College Street, and her family in the loss of PaymasterLieutenant Gerald F. J. Nathan, who is presumed to have died on active service, was passed at : .a"> meeting of the Palmerston North Rotary Club.
The death, has occurred of Sir Arthur Evans. Kt.. D.Littv, Oxford; Hon. LL.D., Edinburgh; Hon. D.Litt., Dublin; Hon. Ph. D.. Berlin; F.R.S., the eminent archaeologist. He was a Fellow of Brasenose College, Oxford., and Frazer Lecturer in Social Anthropology, Cambridge University in 1931-32.
Pilot-Officer Rodney William White, who is reported, missing, is a son of Mr and Mrs Kinross White. Omaranui station, Ilawke's Bay. Pilot-Officer White, who is 26'- years «bf age. was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School, and left to join the Royal Colonial Administrative Service in Uganda. He later joined the R.A.E., and recently took part in operations iri Iraq.
