SCOUT NOTES
(By “Rangi.") 3rd Palmerston North (West End) Troop.—Owing to the West End School being used for other pur (roses on Monday night we fell in at Botanical Road. The troop then divided into four groups one. under Patrol-header Dear going to Mr Kelly’s property, and another tinder Seoutcr R. 'I awharu going 10 the Fitzherbert bridge where they made contact with each other and carried on signalling for an hour. A tlirid party, under TroopLeader R. Kelly, consisted of boys who were passing their second-class badge and these scouts passed the Scout pace te.A and Kim’s Game. The fourth, pai ty, under Seoutcr Collins, visited the Scout Hall wh'erc the remainder of the troop were .taken for second-class work. At about 8.15 all parties met at the Scout Hall, where ambulance work and a game were held. This was followed by the investiture of W. Lundy and a meeting of the Court of Honour. We were pleased to welcome dim Millman, erstwhile troop leader of West End troop. Now Plymouth. 4th Palmerston North (All Saints’). — Owing to the school holidays we did not have such a full attendance as usual and so a. little mogc time was devoted to games. We had three visitors, S. Velvetton, B. Kay and R. Stevens, ail being I Scouts of All Saints Troop and who have' bceu attending college away from Palmerston North. Silt Palmerston North (St. Paul’s) Troop —On Monday the attendance was not as good as was expected, but we undeistund at least two of the Scouts had good excuses on account of their homes having been invaded by the flood. We carried out some tracking operations which, although not highly successful, provided much enjoyment. Patrol instruction was introduced and two Scouts passed their / cond class signalling tcsl. 2nd (Terrace End) Troop.—The inspection was won by the Weka patrol, and we did physical exercises (o warm ns up. Ton Scouis were nominated from our troop for helping at Hokowllilii along "with other Scouts on. Saturday morning. Instead of doing Scout work the time was taken up by a practice for an item of the concert in July. Wo bad Ibe new numerical game which wc introduced at the previous meeting. It again proved very exciting. After Ibis we had inter-patrol relay races arid points were awarded to the winning patrols. Competition is now very keen and the points arc very even for the cup, which will be presented in the near future.
3rd Palmerston North (West End) Cubs Another excellent parade was held last. Monday when the monthly cup for inspection was won by the Yellow six. After the grand howl, signalling and first-aid work occupied the boys. Arrangements have been made for several Cubs to pass the athlete’s badge and wo wish them success.
All Saints’ Cubs.—At our last parade we welemocd a now member to the pack Ken Spear and proceeded to play games and learn a few more new knots.
