DISTRICT PIG COUNCIL.
The management committee of the Wellington District Fig Council met in Falmereton North on Thursday, Mr B. E. Keillor jiesiding. The chairman of tho National Fig Industry Council (Mr A. H. Cockayne wrote in reply to a letter from the Wellington council relative to the price for feed barley supplies, stating that the letter had been referred to the Director of the Internal Marketing Division for appropriate action. On the motion of the chairman, Mr W. J. Croucher was congratulated on tho success of his recent address on the pig industry. Tho supervisor (Mr H. A. Johnson) in his report stated that, already 89 pigs had hnnn tattoed for the Winter Show bacon competition, of which 78 would definitely tako part. A new pig club had been formed at Wondville. A trial comparing copra with barley in order to ascertain their relative food values, and also the most economical amount to feed, had been started, but it had not been going for a sufficient length of time for details to be provided. One significant feature which had emerged, however, was the readiness with which the pigs took to the copra.
