WELLINGTON RACES

KINDERGARTEN BRILLIANT. KENTUCKY BEATS SPRINTERS. WELLINGTON, March 13. The Wellington Racing Club’s autumn mooting was opened at Trentham to-day. in wet weather. The track was greasy at the start and later the going was heavy, fhere was a good attendance and the totalisator handled £56,679 10s, representing an increase of £2154 10s. Kindergarten’s win in the Challenge Stakes was the feature of the day s racing. Many good horses have won the Challenge Stakes, including some who have proved also the best of their time ‘in Australia, but it may bo doubted if there has evor been a better one than yesterday s winner. Already well established as the outstanding three-year-old in a great season for horses of that age, and a winner las start of the Wellington Cup, he made a strong field look like hacks. The Thompson Handicap, generally one of tho hardest races to win, proved an easy race for the promoted hack Augment. In tho heavy going many of the well-fan-cied runners failed to run up to their form, but the winner was right at home ana scored an easy win. The Railway Handicap was won by Kentucky, .who has been three times second, and now also first, in hi» four starts since he was purchased by J. R. George.
