Do not weaken the home front by trying to wangle something for yourself on the quiet; make a break with the personal indulgence, selfishness and private wars which undermine national morale and unity. Everybody has a part to play in the moral ro-armament of the Country. A RUMOUR STOPPER. Those who love their Nation sacrifice the luxury of being the ones to pass on “news.” Any patriot shoots a rumour dead on sight. Face facts but do not exaggerate them: prepare to meet Ihem unitedly. In the days of tension that lie ahead this will cast out your own fears and worriesjust as it does in the present time of uncertainty and speculation. Help your fellow citizens, should the occasion arise, to carry out all instructions given you about air-raids, evacuation, waste or service of any kind. {THE SECRET OF STEADINESS AND INNER STRENGTH Is to listen to God and to do what He says. God speaks directly to the heart of every man and woman who is prepared to listen and obey. Write down the thoughts He gives you. MOVEMENT INTEREST IN CITY. Although part of the 11,000 Moral Re-armament cards to bo distributed in Palmerston North this week have yet to reach the hands of the people, the organisers have found (lie response to the appeal made therein to be very revealing. The cards, of which a facsimile is printed above, have been found to strike a chord in the public consciousness which has been felt, but which has boon, to a large extent, without definite expression. Reports made by wardens in the Moral Rc-armament movement .have been that the people in a groat many instances have learned of the cards and are awaiting their receipt with expectation. This body of opinion lias been tapped and found to be waiting for the opportunity of getting together on a co-operative basis, it is stated. v Absolutely undenominational, the Moral Re-armament Movement (termed M.R.A. for brevity) has taken a grip in other parts of the world, and not only individuals but local bodies and whole communities have changed their outlook through the application of its aims. Dr Frank N. D. Buell man termed this aim as t wo-fold“First, to restore God to leadership as the directing force in the life of nations, and then to work for the strengthening of morale within a country and so build a healthful national life.” The-word “morale” has in turn been quoted as meaning “the condition of mind, body, and- soul of a people spiritually fit.” . The cards now being distributed aim to call attention to principles which have been referred to in various terms by leaders in different parts of the world, leaders who, although eager to strike at “this evil thing” with all the smashing power which, shall bo that of the British Empire, yet hold the view of an Army general who said: “Either I sacrifice riiy selfishness for the sake of my nation, or I sacrifice my nation for the sake of my selfishness: and either wo sacrifice our national selfishness for the sake of the world, or we sacrifice the world for the sake of our national selfishness.” Bearing the signatures of the Mayor of Palmerston North and of the councillors, the M.R.A. cards will, it is hoped, reach every, liomc in the city, go into every flat, into every Government Department, into, every office, into every hotel, and there quietly draw attention to. M.R.A., which, the promoters say, has accomplished much in other lands by focussing attention to standards which none decry and by coalescing public thought on those ■ standards to the point of honest endeavour being made for their observance. In, Ibis city the organisers of the distribution of the M.R.A. cards seek to bring an even more concrete recognition of these' standards of conduct, from the point of view'of the individual and the community, than has been generally taken in days of peace.
