LITTLE THEATRE.

ONE-ACT PLAYS.

A bright programme of one-act plays was presented on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings by members of the Little Theatre Society. The junior members opened the programme with an amusing little play abput pirates. The cast, which showed excellent promise under the capable direction of Mrs S. Trotter, consisted of Penelope King, Doris Johnston, Peggy Wilson, Daphne Page and Nancy Singleton. The adult players opened with a rather difficult problem play, but the performance was polished and pleasing and held the audience from start to finish, reflecting great credit on the producer, Mr D. Bennett, and his cast, of whom several were making their nrst appearance. The players were Misses D. Woodward, Li Townley, P. McDavitt, B. Russell, J. Wycherley and F. Wliittaker. A delightful comedy with a touch of pathos was attractively presented by Miss E. Sandman who, in her first venture as a producer did excellent work, ably assisted by her cast, of whom Mr W. H. Loch ’was outstanding. Miss J. Wcllwood, Mesdames C. J. Rowley, M. H. Wilson, G. Lusk and Mr D. Rabone were the other players. The period costumes and setting were well carried out. The final production had an unusual and wellstaged setting in a farmyard, the story being written around the indisposition of a pig. It was an amusing presentation with a novelty that intrigued the audience. .The producer was Mr S. Bradfield and the east consisted of Mrs S. J. Bennett, Misses N. Stubbs and L. Bennett and Messrs J. P. McDavitt, I. Stewart and L. Callis.

In the absence of the president (Mr H. G. Bagnall), last evening, Mr G. H. Lusk offered a welcome to the visitors and thanked the producers and the players. He reminded members of the three-act productions which would l>e presented at the end of October and November or early December. Supper was served under the direction of Mrs R. Allison.
