HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.
Mrs M. Aitcliison presided over the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mesdames J. Stone, E. Saunders, F. J. Nathan, H. Fry, W. Mouldey, A. M. Wilson and Miss E. Clark. There were apologies for absence from Mesdames F. Bennett, T. R. Moore, R. I). Spraggon, S. J. Parkes, J. Barsanti, A. E. Mansford, W. H. Richnrdson, E. L. Christian and Miss L. M. Banks. In the absence of the secretary (Mrs Parkes), Mrs Mouldey carried out her duties. The president reported that the chair to be presented to the Awapuni Home had been purchased and a plate was being aflaxed with the name of the auxiliary. Miss Clark reported ,on purchases of materials. A report was also given on the work of supplying books to the Hospital, it being mentioned that the patients showed a preference for magazines. The president reported on the Women’s War Service Auxiliary meeting and said that the Hospital' Auxiliary secretary had been elected as one of the nino committee members. In response to an inquiry as to whether Toe H was still functioning and offering to carry on the work of distributing reading matter in the Hospital, Mr F.'Opie wrote explaining that the organisation had gone into- recess for the duration of the war. The president reported on a case which had come to her notice, and (assistance was granted. Miss Clark I W as authorised to make the necessarypurchases and also to replenish the supply of cotton.
