There was merit in Autoswcop’s win at Marlon on Saturday, although it was something of a surprise. It was his second success this season, as he had previously won at the Combined Hunt meeting at New Plymouth, but his solitary . success before that was a win as a four-year-old in a hack distance event at Bulls two years ago. Auto Sweep was the only winner among several New Zealand Cup horses engaged at the Marlon meeting. He has become more solid and robust during the last few months and is bred on good slaying lines, being by Captain Bunsby —Crubeen. Unlikely Starter.

Mazir is unlikely to staft in the Poland Cup at the Ohinemuri meeting on Saturday.
