TROOPS AT CRICKET.
• NEW ZEALANDERS v. A.I.F. LONDON, Aug. 25. Playing through a 45-minute air raid warning under the protection of Hurricanes circling overhead, the New Zealanders (165) defeated A.I.F. (69) in a cricket match at Aldershot. Lieutenant E. W. Tindill (23) and. Sergeant Wareham (50) who opened, gave New Zealand a good start. Company Sergeant-Major Betts (15) and Private Copeland (14, including three fours) were the ouly other New Zealanders to reach double figures. Australia’s most successful bowlers were Sergeant Edgar (five for 45) and Private Cox (three for 25). The Australian opening batsmen, Signaller Brame (33) and Private McNamara (12) started promisingly, but Captain T. J. Daley was the next highest with five. Gillespie took three for six, Betts three for 27 and Baker two for 12 for New Zealand.
