AWARDS OF THE D.F.C. TWO IN ONE FAMILY. Per Press Association. , GISBORNE, Aug. 24. The award of the Distinguished Elying Cross to Pilot-Officer Colin Gray (wrongly cabled on Friday as 0, F. Gray, of Christchurch) places a Gisborne family, that of Mr and Mrs B. L. Gray, in the possession of one of the most remarkable records of the war, since two members of the family (twin brothers) have now been awarded the same decoration. Pilot-Officer Colin Gray is a brother of the Tate Flying-Officer Kenneth Gray, who was awarded the D.F.C. ior an outstanding performance when he brought his badlv-damaged bomber homo from a raid over Germany last December. Flying-Officer Gray, who was killed shortly after being decorated, 'was the first member of the family to join the R.A.F., and went to a bomber squadron, while his brother, joining up a little later, was posted to a fighter formation. In ‘letters to his parents, PilotOfficer Gray tells some of his many experiences in recent months, including an occasion when he, like his brother, only just managed to get a badly-damaged machine back' to its base.
