MANAWATU club. Conditions were ideal for the playing of the August bogey competition on Saturday afternoon by the members of the Manawatu Golf Club. The course was in excellent order, but only one player finished upon bogey. The leading cards were:— A grade.—o. H. Williams, S. W. Rapley, square; M. A. Ongley, E. R. Chapman, 2 down; A. G. Cliff, R. S. Shnnd, J. M. Taylor, 3 down. B grade.—F. 11. Guinness, 3 up; B. E. Keillor, 1 down; L. F. Cooper. A. A. Stewart, E. Christmas, A. E. Carrington, 3 down. During the playing of the bogey round, F. H. Guinness had a card of 78 for seventeen holes, having picked his ball up on the fifth hole after finding a little trouble. As the result of this score he has had his handicap lowered bv three strokes and be now plays on 15. GLENDINNING’S GOOD ROUND. K. S. Glendinning has been in good form lately and on Sunday morning ho .recorded a 72 —one under par — and in the afternoon he bad a round of par. .In the initial round he slipped a stroke at each of»the first and third holes, but had par figures for the remainder to be out in 38. On the homeward half he scored three birdies —at tho 12th, 14th and 16th holes — and was home in 34—three under par. His card read: —Out: 5 4 5 3 5 5 5 3 3—38. In: 4 4 2 5 3 4 4 4 4—34. Total: 72.

D. G. Long-Ward had an excellent round of 75 yesterday morning during the playing of a McLennan Cup match. He was out in 37 and home in 38— one over par on both halves. Another good score was that of 76 by A. M. Johns, who was engaged in a championship match. He was out in 37 and home in 39. He slipped strokes at the ]oth, loth and 18th, hut recorded a birdie 4 at the 16th. THE HASTINGS TOURNEY. The Hastings Club’s tournament concluded on Saturday. In the semi-final match against David Graham, H. J. Longstaff was required to go to the 20th green before winning. In the other semi-final R. Worker heat E. Henderson. In the final Longstaff beat Worker 4 and 3. Of the other matches of local interest, N. G. Inghant was beaten by R. Baker in the semi-final of the Longlands Handicap by 7 and 5, and in the semi-final of the Rualiine Handicap E. Tong beat M. Jolly 4 and 3. In a four-hall match, K. S. Glendinning and A. E. Hansel played together and handed in the winning card of 6 up. Glendinning recorded a 70, having regained his touch on the greens. In the final of the championship flight D. G. Sutherland heat J. G. Swainson 4 and 3.
