MARTON, July 17. A meeting of tho A. and P. Association was held on Friday evening, Air R. J. Moore (the newly-elected president) presiding. The chairman referred to the death Mr J. 11. «. Pcrrett. who had been associated with A. and P. Association \\or.v in this district for a number of years in an official capacity. A vote of sympathy with the relatives was carried. The chairman extended a hearty welcome to the new members of the committee, Messrs A. V. Anderson, 11. Bowen, 11. Parkes, B. Cochran, J. Henderson and A. C. Vile. Mr F. JL Dexter’s resignation as a member of the committee, and Mr C. C. Baldwin’s as a member of the association, were accepted with .regret. The Now Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs wrote appointing Messrs J. Henderson, H. Kimpton and I. McLeay as representatives of the Marlon Association. The report. of the annual conference of the North Island Secretaries’ Conference was read and received. The recont annual ball was a highly successful affair, both socially and financially, reported tho chairman. The prolit of about £37 was over double that of last year’s. The difficulty Marion would experience in getting sideshows, especially a merry-go-round, for next year’s show, was mentioned by Mr Moore. Most of the sideshow attractions would bo at the Centennial Exhibition in Wellington. I lie president then entertained members, when a toast list was honoured. The Marton Harrier Club championship for the Hurley Cup took place on Saturday, when ten runners competed, and an interesting contest resulted as follows: F Hill, 36min 37scc-, 1; M. Hunt 37min 12sec 2; W. Hill, 37min 41sec, 3; S. Christopher, 38min 2sec, 4; D. Smith, 38 miu 58sc<: 5; W. Edge, 40nnn 35sec, 6; 1) Stent, 41inin 48see, 7; J. Taylor, 43 min 29scc, 8; J. Ilorgan, 46min 40sec, 9; C. Gibbs, 46min 41sec, 10. D. Stent won the sealed handicap. The following were the results of Rugby matches played on Saturday :—Senior : Old Bovs 10 v. Hunterville 6. Halcombe 11 v. Bulls 6. Junior: Hunterville 6 v. Old Bovs 0 (Bengal Cup); Bulls 11 v. Ohingaiti 9; Rata won by default from Ilaleombe. Thirds: Old Boys beat Iluntervillo, Flock House 29 v. Bulls 0. Hockey.— Unitcd-Tutacnui A 7 v. Iluntcrville 6. All the men’s games were postponed.
