WAITUNA WEST
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIT UN A WEST, July 17. The monthly meeting of the Ataituna West Women's Institute was held in the hall, Mrs K. K. Pearce, presiding. Airs Knight, who was elected secretary, took the place of Aliss Clare, who has resigned from the position. 11k J. H. Williamson gave a travel talk and sho also showed a wonderful collection of arts and crafts and also some very fine needlework which she had brought home from her ports of call. All the members were most interested in the display shown. A vote of thanks was accorded Airs Williamson. The monthly competition for the best pot of marmalade was won by Airs P. Shannon 1, Mrs A. E. Shannon 2. and Airs T. D. Stokes 3. Flower from the garden, Airs A. E. Pearce 1. Airs Aleads 2. and Airs A. E. Shannon 3. Airs Williamson was the judge for both classes. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Aliss Giivlcc and Mrs Johnson. A motion of sympathy was passed to Airs Clare and family in their recent bereavement. Next month (lie competition will be for the best wood-fibre spray. Air and Mrs .1. Whyte and family, ATictoria lioad, Makerua, were visitors to Waituna We*t during the week-end where they were the guests of Air Whyte’s sister, All's T. I). Stokes. Air and Mrs W. Walker and family were the guests of Airs T. Tuohy, Waituna during the weekend.
A number of the old pupils of the Shannon School travelled from the Waituna district over the week-end to attend tho Shannon School jubilee celebrations.
