THURSDAY’S BOUT. ‘AVIIO said King Kong Cox is the toughest wrestler in New Zealand 7” asks Paul Jones. Well, that’s a question easily answered. Practically every wrestling enthusiast ill the Dominion will vote Cox imo that petition, but tliat answer will not satisfy Jones, who has Seen matched against Cox at Palmerston North on Thursday, July 20. Jones, who lias earned tlio jungle title of “Python Legs,” has mot every world champion sinco Strangler Lewis regained the world title in 1928 and lias beaten them all with the exception of Jim Rondos and Bronko Nagurski. In New Zealand ho has worried Blomfield and McCready—in his opening matches when he was working without a full knowledge of what is allowed and what disullowed—and seems to bo tlio ideal opponent for Cox, whose reputation for durability and toughness has made him the most discussed wrestler in Now Zealand to-day. Both men arc clover wrestlers, but both favour the shock tactics so popular with wrestling enthusiasts and are guaranteed to provide the thrills required. Cox, making his second visit to this country, is us fit as ever, lias not forgotten his old tricks and has learned a few new ones. He will need them all against Jones, who is crafty', fast, and strong, relishes an interchange of elbow jolts and uses his long less to advantage when down on the mat. This match should be the most sensational of the season. DR AAV AT AVELLINGTON. Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON. July 17.
