SPAIN’S FRIENDSHIP.
GENERAL FRANCO’S AI ESS AGE. BURGOS, June I (J. General Franco has telegraphed Herr Hitler, Signor Alussolini, and Dr. Salazar expressing the friendship and solidarity with Italy, Germany, and Portugal of the Falangists (Spanish Fascists). A Rome message states that 'the Spanish Ambassador (Senor Saner) visited Signor Mussolini and, it is understood, 'discussed the possibility of a military treaty between Italy and Spain. General Franco will review all the Spanish forces at Bilbao on June 19. It is officially announced in Romo that 5699 Italian airmen participated in the Spanish AVar and carried out 5318 bombardments; 172 Italians were killed and 192 wounded. The Italians lost 86 machines and they claim that they brought down 903 enemy ’planes in 266 air fights and hit 224 ships. Meanwhile, a Berlin mesage says that Herr Llelnmth AVolthat '(Chief of the Foreign Office Commercial Department) has gone to Spain to discuss SpanishGerman economic relations and closer trading.
