Prior to tile serving of supper, the presentation of a beautiful canteen of cutlery, on behalf of his many friends, was made to Air Alikkoison by an old friend of the family, Air P. Hansen. Regret was expressed by Air Hanson that Air A. Alonfgnmerie was unablo to he present. Air Hansen said he had noticed with pleasure, the interest and willingne-s that was always forthcoming from Afr Alex AlikktT son to help with the various activities in the district. On behalf of all present lie wished him and Miss O’Donnell every success and happiness at Alatanmta. Air E. \V. Barnett (Halcomhe), on behalf of Ihe Young Farmers’ Ulub, spoke of llie very keen interest Air Alikkoison had taken in all the club’s activities, and also conveyed good wishes. Mr Alikkoison suitably replied. To tho organisers of the function, Air Mikkelson expressed thanks for the onportnuity given to say goodbye to his friends; and he thanked all present for (lie gift. Extras for Ihe dances were contributed by the pipers. Friends were present from Awahuri, Kopium, To Rongotea, Kairunga., Podding, Palmerston North, Glen Oroua, Bunnvthoipe, Longhiii’n, Kimbolton, and Aorangi. Dancing was carried on till a lale hour. On Wednesday afternoon the Awahuri ladies’ branch of tho National Parly held a social in the hall. Airs Rowlands presided and extended a welcome to all, especially fo llm visitors from Newhurv and To Arakura. Items were rendered hv Aliss Y. Bennett (pianoforte solos), Aliss 4 A. Lassen (Bunnytliorpe), Afrs 11. Port (a competition won by Mrs Lassen). Aliss Anderson. Alisses Afaslers, Ali?s Henson (a competition, the winner being Airs Lancaster), and ATiss ATasters. Thanks to the performers and helpers were expressed bv Airs Rowlands. A bring-and-buy stall did excellent business, Afesdamcs J. Young and Clirislian being in charge. j
