HARSH IMPOSITION

ON CZECHOSLOVAK CITY. RETALIATION FOR AIURDER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 8. The British United Press correspondent in Prague states that Baron von Neuratli (head of the Secret Council) returned to-day from Berlin and imposed the most rigorous proclamation uiion the city of Kladno as a sequel to the murder of a German policeman.

The proclamation forbade open-air meetings,- closed cinemas and schools, and deposed the mayor and city councillors. New police have been appointed and the German Commissioner has ordered the closing of all doors and windows from 2 p.in. to 5 a.in. Those open would be fired on.

Afore severe measures are threatened if the murderer is not taken into custody bv to-morrow. CHIEF OF POLICE.

It is revealed that the murdered German was Wilhelm Kniest, chief of police. His body was found bulletriddled with a revolver alongside, which had been fired three times. Sixty Czechs have been arrested in Kladno where the police were publicly disarmed in the market square. The newspapers say the city has been a centre of unrest, agitators victimising Czech miners, foundry workers and others who approve Baron von Neura til’s proclamation.
