COMPREHENSIVE DISPLAY.
SPIRIT OP CO-OPERATION
TOWN AND COUNTRY
Co-operative effort and mutual goodwill between city and country enterprise form one. of the strongest traditions behind the Show, which mirrors ‘agricultural achievement, emphasises tlie important place of scientific research, and provides an enlightening knowledge of the swift advances continually being made by industry and in manufacturing efficiency. More than this, the exhibition shows how smoothly they can function jointly in promoting the corporate life of the community. It is perhaps true to say that never has there been a closer identity of interest among the principal lactors in the commercial life and productive capacity of this country than is portrayed in the present AVinter Show.
Nearly 80,000 square feet of indoor space aro occupied by the competitive classes, industrial exhibits and general merchandise displays, always a comprehensive and widely diversified unit of the exhibition. Roth tho New Zealand Institute for tho Blind and the Y.W.C.A. are represented by stalls. The amusement area, is a large one, offering plenty of attractions. Particular interest was taken to-day in tho splendid displays arranged by the Women’s Institute courts, the Agricultural Department, and the Wellington District Pig Council. The chief attraction this afternoon was tho Rugby football match between To Ante College and tho Palmerston North Boys’ High School. Features of to-night’s entertainment arc tho free Punch and Judy show and vaudeville session, and the mannequin parade arranged by the P.D.C., Ltd. The dairy produce section is attractively displayed in the entertainment hall, where the fruit and home industries sections arc two outstanding features. Grain and farm produce, with vegetables and farm roots, are on display in the produce hall. The arrangements made by the president (Mr C. E. Vile), secretaryorganiser (Mr H. E. Kissling) and general committee for tho conduct of the general exhibition leave nothing to he desired.
