PETROL ON FIRE.
AIJSHA P IN CITY GARAGE. Event's moved very quickly when petrol became ignited while a youth. Arthur Bartlett, of H Victoria A venue, was lilling; a motor ear with benzine at .Messrs Justice ami Edmundts's n-ei’ ear department in George Street yesterday afternoon. Tin- tin wav blown from tin- youth's grasp, ii' is understood. and fell into a floor pit. creating a blaze there anil Igniting a tyre and other front parts .1 another ear. Some damage war* done to both ears, the first one, meanwhile, '-living been affected by a blaze which developed near the engine.
In addition, a bicycle which was in tin- pit. was dam: ted. Slight damage was caused to an office enclosure next till- )iit. Prompt action, not only bv employees hut also by the Eire Brigade.. which was summoned, prevented the further spread of the fire, which was suppressed before major damage occurred.
Burns on the right hand were xnf Cored bv the youth hut they were not extensive. He was taken to a doctor by a member of the firm.
