BOXING AND WRESTLING.
TO-NIGIIT’S ATTRACTION. Tlk> combined box ins: and wrestling tournament which is io lx? hold to-night under the auspices of the Palmerston North Wrestling and the Mann wain Boxing Associations dins some excellent bouts listed on its programme. Wrestlers from Levin and Wanganui are to meet the best of Manawatu’s amateurs, and Mana* watu boxers aro to bo matched against some of Hawke’s Bay’s foremost pugilists. Included in the wrestlers are W. Murrcl. who gave a fine exhibition in the Wellington ehnpionships. and who is to meet B. Bartholomew of Levin; J. Cud by who has beaten every opponent except V. Thomas, who was a New Zealand representative at the Empire Games; W. Kecles (Levin) who has won all his bouts so far. and who should prove a worthy opponent for the Manawatu boy Eekcrsloy; and several ethers. All these boys are fast and have a good variety of holds which they will not hesitate to bring into use. On the boxing side of the programme, tlie featured bout is that between D. Coughlin, who competed in the New Zealand championships, and Bex Davis, the Hawke’s Bay featherweight. Others on the programme are the light-heavy-weight Lucas, from ITawke’s Bay, and L. Parsons, the Manawatu featherweight champinon. The proceedings will be opened at 8 p.m. sharp by Mr J. Tlodgens, M.P.
