Constable G. AA T . Hunt, of Palmerston North, is at present in hospital, but is making satisfactory progress. Vice-Admiral E.- A. Somerville and Mrs Somerville, who have been on a visit of several months to New Zealand, leave for England on Thursday. Lord and Lady Runeiman have returned to London. It is stated that Lord Runeiman is fully restored to health by his overseas trip, which included Australia and New Zealand. The Hawke’s Bay Education Board has appointed as its representative on the Dannevirke High School Board of Governors Mr N. Paulsen (Takapnu). The'board’s previous nominee was Air T. H. G. Lloyd, Dannevirke, who was unable to continue in the position. Mr Paulsen is chairman of the AA'aipawa County Council. Mr and Airs J. Emmett, of St. Paul’s Church, Wanganui, have been appointed to the positions of choirmaster and organist respectively at St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North, thus filling the vacancies caused by Air A. J. Graham's impending retirement. Afr and Airs Emmett have held similar positions at St. Paul’s Church for six years with marked success. They will commence their duties at Palmerston North, on August 1. The death has occurred of Air AA'illinin Connor, at the age of 60 years, reports a Press Association telegram from Dunedin. He was town clerk of AA’cst Harbour Borough since 1918. Ho was a member of the executive of the Otago Justices of the Peace Association. Air Connor occupied a prominent position in the bowling world and was a past-president of the New Zealand Bowling Council. A Press Association message from Gisborne reports the death of Captain Alexander Carson, harbourmaster at Gisborne for 24 years, at the ago of 69. Born in Dunedin, lio served in the Union Company’s vessels before taking up bis shore position in Gisborne. He was well known all along the New Zealand coast. Captain Carson bad been in ill-health for some time, but bis sudden collapse to-day was ’ unexpected. He is survived by a widow, four boys and one girl, one son being the All Black and New Zealand cricketer, AA r . N. Carson. The death lias occurred at Gisborne, at the age of 91 years, of Mr William Galloway Jerram. He arrived in New Zealand as a boy with his parents, the family coming in the ship Spray of the Ocean, the trip taking 90 days. They settled in North Auckland, and later Afr Jcrrnm went to Hawke’s Bay, where be took over the management of a sheep station that had boon under the control ipf the late Mr John Coleman, Napier. In 1894 Mr Jerram became part owner with Air IV. A. Neale, of AVaihi Station, later disposing of his interests to manage 'several properties for the Lowry family. In 1902 Air Jerram removed to Poverty Bay, taking over the. management of AVaikoliu Station for Air J. Holdsworth. During the war lie controlled Air E. M. Hutchinson’s Ruatikuri stations. He bad lived in retirement in Gisborne since 1925.
