(From Our Own Correspondent.) - _ , HALCOMBE, May 22. Tho annual meeting of the Halconibe brunch of tho Now Zealand Farmers’ Union held- on Thursday evening was well attended. Tho report was read and adopted and tho baluuce-ishcct disclosed a very healthy position. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr W. 8. .Page (reelected); secretary and treasurer, Air W. 11. Powell (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs W. McLennan and J. 11. Blundcn; executive, Messrs IL C. Hamilton, U. 13. Miles, E. W. Cowdrey, N. Ashworth, T. Green, K. G. Burgess, J. Eergussou, L. Fergusson, E. E. AicKinlay, amcRW. Field; delegates to the Wellington central provincial executive, Messrs W. S. Page, W. 11. Powell, W. Alol.ennan, E. \V. C-.-wdrey, It. C. Hamilton and J. 11. Blundcn. Tho chairman commented on the declining membership which, ho said, was to be deplored. The apathy shown by farmers was not conducive to tho building up of a healthy organisation. He hoped that the ensuing year would see a greater display of interest. Remits for the interprovincial conference were fully discussed. Bulls beat Ilalcombo by 8 points to 6 in the junior Rugby match played on tho local Recreation Ground on Saturday. McFarlane and Judd scored lor Ilalcombo and Harper and do Burgh for Bulls. Ellery converted de Burgh’s trv with a. splendid kick. Fortunes fluctuated throughout tho game, which was very evenly contested. To Punga was again tho outstanding player and it is unfortunate for Ilalcombo that they will now lose his services on account of his return to the ' University College.
