COMPETITIONS CONTINUED. SATURDAY’S RESULTS. Two games were played at the North Street Park on Saturday afternoon when the third series in the first round of the inter-chib Association football matches were staged. ROVERS’ FIRST WIN. Rovers secured their first win of tire season when they met Y.M.C.A., who fielded only nine men, Rovers scoring eight goals to two. The teams were:Rovers.—Fairclougli, D. Anderson, Sullivan, J. Laiiig, K\ Anderson, C. Armstrong, F. Halt, O'. Hart, Millar, Donnelly, Pagan. Y.M.C.A. Howard, Brougham, Searle, Harvey, Dingwall, Gatley, Harkness, Ward, Hobbs. About half way through the first spell Millar erased to F. Hart, who scored. Dingwall secured an equalising goal shottly afterwards, when he followed the ball into the penalty area after Harvey had shot and the hall had rebounded from the post. In quick sucecsion first K. Anderson and then F. Hart scored, thus consolidating Rovers’ position. Receiving the .hall from Donnelly. C. Hart took the last goal scored before half-time. Anderson scored from a handy position on the edge of the penalty area soon after the recommencement. F. Hart shot at goal and the greasy ball twisted in the goalkeeper’s grasp, was dropped and then shot between fho posts. Hart secured the next goal also when lie sent the leather into the net after the goalkeeper had fallen. Near the end of the game Pagan secured from Donnelly and scored from a position on the wing after completing a lengthy run. The last goal came unexpectedly when Gatley passed to Harkness, to receive the ball back again wlion ho was in a more favourable position and send it into the net. Mr IT. Locke was the referee. DRAWN GAME. Thistle drew with St. Andrew’s, 1 i. The score at half-time was in favour of St. Andrew’s. The teams wore: Thistle.—Kempson, Downes,* Boddell. Crow, Peterson, Hcarscy, AY. A’oung, Moore, Allan, Glaister, Hurcoinb. St. Andrew’s. —Lv,on, Turner, Askam,. MeShcffory, AV. A r oung, D. Broughton, Peterson, Bell, T. Broughton, A. A’oting, Horn. The first goal came unexpectedly about ten minutes after tbo commencement of play when A. A T oiing trapped the ball, arid from a position about half-wav down the field lobl>ed it into the goal. In the second spell Hurenmb scored from an easy position after having intercepted the ball shot by Horn. Mr F. Hesketli was tbo referee.
