VICIOUS VANDALISM.
DESTRUCTION OF BUSH. A correspondent of the Forest and Bird Protection Society has reported a case of vicious vandalism. “I feel it my duty to report to you still another ease of wanton destruction of our beautfiul native bush,” tho writer states. “Recently we witnessed tho deliberate setting alight, of tin's lovely Mangapohuo natural bridge reserve. What Was a few minutes before a glorious patch of bush and ferns is now a mass of charred ruin. This reserve is visited by hundreds of tourists through the year, but after tho fire sovernl parties were turned away as it was impossible to get through. I might mention that wc did our best to stop this fire, but the party dropped their matches and with roars of laughter retired to a near-by hill-sicl<3 to watch the ‘fun’.” The executive of the society is making further inquiries about the outrage.
