One of Hawke’s Bay’s leading women tennis players, Miss Margaret Glenny, is at present in England and may play in some of the English tournaments this season. With R. Sharpe, Te Aute, Miss Glenny achieved considerable success in the combined doubles championships in Auckland m 1938. “One must again pay tribute to the noble work of the Women’s Division,” stated the president (Mr J. C. Bolton) in his report to the annual meeting of the Southern Hawke’s Bay executive of the Farmers’ Union. “We see in their work the deeper side of the humanitarian effort. We do not give the division the support we should, but probably the excuse is that we have so many problems of our own to tackle.”
