The principal attraction lat the Showgrounds was hard fought from the first whistle to the final, and just be- j fore the end of the first spell both sides threw the ball about with an abandon ( that compared with the best Rugby . traditions. This was a splendid inter- - hide, and had the spectators on their ; toes. The curtain-raiser was interest- ( ing by reason of the fact that either side might have won until United. . scored and converted their only try. , The junior competition was advanced another stage, the outstanding feature being the defeat of Kia Toa. by Feilding Old Boys by 39 points to nil. At the conclusion of the previous week s games these two teams were equal, on the championship table with six points each.
