PAHIATUA.
PERSONAL. After spending a holiday at Waipukurau and Napier, Mrs E. B. Watson has returned home. Mr and Mrs TV. L. Tattle are enjoying a holiday iii the South Island. Airs W. T. Boyd has Alias P. Alarsli, of Peel Forest, South Canterbury as her guest. Air and Airs TV. T. AlcClenghan, of Alangamutu, have returned home. Reporting to the monthly meeting of the, Tararua Electric Power Board the engineer (Air If. Fraser) stated, inter alia: “Since the completion of the Alakakahi Road extension, the line gangs have been concentrating on maintenance ivork. With the exception of the Public Works Department’s pre-arranged shut-downs, no stoppage of any duration has occurred and advantage was taken of these shutdowns to carry out important high tension line repairs and alterations. The pilot wire system to control water heaters, that has been run in a section of the borough, is working very satisfactorily. This wire is being extended and by the end of the year we expect to have the complete water heating load in the borough controlled by this system. A total of 399 re-inspections has been completed, but we are still a little behind with this work, the difficulty in the Eketahuna area being the shortage of wiremen to carry out the necessary repairs and alterations after the re-inspections have been made. A ine hundred and seventeen metres have been tested and 4SS repaired and recalibrated. In the Pahiatua area, maintenance work lias been carried out. Jn the borough, poles have been replaced to comply with the Public T\ orks Department. New services have been run where required and two temporary services run to supply contractors motors. The water heater control system has been extended in lui Street, Crew Street and a section of Alangahao Road.”
