SUGAR QUOTAS.

REALLOTMENT SETTLED. Received May 22, 11 a.m. LONDON, May 21. A statement reveals that the International Sugar Council, by 80 votes out of 95 has agreed to reallot 239,000 metric tons to the countries which reduced their export quotas in July, 1938. The reallotment operates__ inimediately as iollows:—Cuba, i 2,561 tons; Dominica, 20,707; Haiti, 2170; Holland, 62,606; Russia, 65,956; Australia, 7500; South Africa, 7500. Any portion of these quantities surrendered will be reallotted pro rata to the countries able to use it. The council will-meet in June to consider a recommendation regarding the increase of British Dominion and Colonial quotas by 153,265 metric tons.
