CLAY BIRD SHOOTING.
The Palmerston North Gun Club held a shoot on their grounds at Fitzherbert on Saturday. A strong rear wind made markmanship difficult, but some good scores were returned, possibles being got by E. de Tourret. J. Dunlop (2), W. E. Thomson, F. Seivert, E. Sutherland, and Mrs de Tourret. Proceedings opened with the second round of a cup shoot in which the leading scorers were: E. de Tonrret 10, R. Maher 10. E. Sutherland 10, F. Farmer 9. R. Meehan 10, N. Plansen 9. R. Seivert 9. Mrs de Tonrret 9. F. Seivert 8, J. Dunlop 8. The next event was the second round of the de Tourret Cup in which J. Dunlop obtained a j>ossible. other scores being: R. Meehan and E. Sutherland 9 each. M. Kcarins, F. Farmer and E. de Tourret 8 each A trophy shoot resulted in five tieing for the prize. W. A. Thomson, J. Dunlop. R. Meehan, F. Seivert and Mrs de Tourret. Shooting off, Meehan and Mrs de Tourret dropped their fifteenth birds. J. Dunlop dropped the sixteenth. Thomson the nineteenth. F. Seivert took the trophy and Thomson_ -received the second trophy. A qua.il drive was divided hv J. Dnnlop and and R. Maher. The Inst event was a bnx sweep in which first place went to R. Maher in a shoot off. F. Farmer being second and de Tourret third. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs de Tourret.
