. M F S . Stephen Curtis, of Wellington, is visiting Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs J. Brown, of Apia, Samoa, are the guests of Mrs M. Bower, Itongotea. Miss Alice Clemance, of Kalimpong, India, is the guest of her cousin, Mrs C. A. Small, of Rongopai Street. Mr and Mrs R. Bailey, of Palmerston North, are in Wellington for the annual Dominion conference of opticians. Air and Airs B. Round, of Rongotea, accompanied by Mrs Round, senr, are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu.
Miss T. Madden, secretary of the Alanawatu branch of the Ilegistered Nurses’ Association, who was a delegate to the annual conference of the association, in Dunedin, has returned to Palmerston North after an enjoyable holiday spent there a.nd in Central Otago. * i' e friends of Air and ATrs AA 7 . S. Wilton, of Palmerston North, will regret to learn that their small daughter has been obliged' to undergo a tlurd operation and after a few months of her discharge from hospital it will he necessary for her to return for a further operation before the treatment is a success.
At the meeting, yesterday, of the Alanawatu branch of the National Council of AYomen, the resignation of Aliss H. AI. Saunders (Y.W.C.A. secretary) as secretary. in view of her transfer to Wellington, was received. Referring to Afiss Saunders’s services, the president (Mrs H. Paterson) said sho had been consistent and gracious at all times carrying out her duties with creat ability, and all were grateful to her. AYhile regretting her departure, the members rejoiced that it was a forward move. These remarks were supported by Airs J. A. Harris (Turakina) and endorsed by all present.
