RANGE OF BENEFITS.
SOCIAL SECURITY PLAN. "No definite amount was promised as payment for in-patients’ services and no definite indication was given as to the range of benefits to be included in the service when it starts, except that the Minister stated thu for tne present efforts were being chiefly directed to make arrangements for medical, pharmaceutical, iiospital and maternity benefits,” stated the chairman (Mr J. A. Nash), in a report to the Palmerston North Hospital Hoard yesterday ou the conference at New Plymouth of the Hospital Boards’ Association.
“The Minister stated that he sought the co-operation of the association in the matter, and subsequently the conference agreed to adopt the remit put forward by this board that a special advisory committee be set up to confer immediately with the Government on all aspects of the social security scheme as affecting hospital board activities.”
Consequently, the Palmerston North Board lias decided to defer still further the report recently furnished on the organisation and development of maternity services in its district.
