PLUNKET SOCIETY.

ASSISTANCE APPRECIATED. A complimentary tea was tendered to Mr K. Garner and Mrs Garner by members of the committee of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society, in the ltosco tearooms, this morning. The tables were decorated with graceful vases of mauve gladioli. Those present were Mesdanies G. C. Petersen (president), A. Coombs, J. A.I Nash, L. H. Collinson, T. F. Fairbrother, F. M. Garner, S. R. Thomson. H. D. Irving, K. F. Ivirk, T. J. Rodgers, M. Aitchison (secretary) and Colonel J.‘ H. AVhyte. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdanies J. Murray and AV. G. Black. Mrs Petersen said they were there to thank Air Garner for very generously donating the whole proceeds of the recent photographic competition to the funds of the Plunket Society. They deeply appreciated his kindness, and the donation would he of wonderful benefit to the society, as it was instrumental in forming their decision to engage a third nurse. She ' then presented Air Garner with a token of appreciation from the society.

Mr Garner expressed his thanks and said he was very glad the competition had resulted so well. He hoped that it would become an annual event. Airs Aitchison, as treasurer, expressed her appreciation of the wonderful result of the competition. As chairman of the finance committee, Colonel AA’hyte said the Plunket Society had always been fortunate in the generous treatment it had received from the business people of Palmerston North. He mentioned that, when the branch was first formed Messrs Collinson anti Cunninghanie had given the use of their rooms until the society had been able to afford to build the. present rooms, and now they had received this generous donation from Air Garner, and Colonel AA’hyte voiced the appreciation of his committee.
