ARCHITECTS CONFER.
DOMINION INSTITUTE. m Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Feb. 15. The annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Architects was commenced this morning, and is being attended by delegates from all parts of the Dominion. It is presided over by Mr Cecil W. Wood (Christchurch). Mr F. Messenger, of New Plymouth, was elected honorary fellow of the institute (non-subscribing class). A remit from Canterbury urging the implementation of the remit passed at the 1930 conference which agreed to the setting-up of a sub-com-mittee to draft a handbook for students was lost, an amendment that the original remit should be rescinded being carried in its place. Mr E. Greenish (Wellington) suggested the following resolution, which was carried: “That a sub-committee be established in Wellington to consider and make recommendations regarding a handbook as a guide to the examination system, the committee to consist of the advisory members of the education committee and three other members who have passed their final examination within the past seven years, and that tho executive, on receiving a report as to tho scope of the handbook, distribute it for suggestions to the district branches.” . The election of councillors resulted: Messrs S. S. Alleman, L. S. Piper, H. L. Massey and P. C. I. Crooks (Auckland), E. E. Gillman and J. H. Edgecombe (South Auckland), E. A. 'Williams, F. H. Forge, and R. Natusch (Hawke’s Bay-Gisborne), F. E. Greenish. W T . Iv. Cook, J. I. King and H. C. Morton (Wellington), J. A. J. Hart, P. Watts, Rule, G. D. Griffiths and A. H. Manson (Canterbury), 11. McDowell Smith, N. Y. A. Wales, and L. D. Coombs (Otago).
