GLEN OKOUA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEN OROIJA, Feb. 14. The annual school picnic was held in fine weather on Mr 11. J. Lancaster’s property, Couper’s Lino. Though the number present did not compare with last year’s, many parents and friends spent an enjoyable time. Mr Lancaster and his son, Mr A. Lancaster, had as usual gone to a great deal of trouble in preparing the ground, while members of the School Committee had assisted with seating accommodation, tables, etc., Bcforo lunch, which was prepared by members of the committee and their wives, with other willing helpers, portion of a lengthy programme of well over seventy events, inclusive of heats, was run off under the direction of the head teacher, who was assisted by members of the committee and other gentlemen. The programme 'was continued after lunch, and was almost completed wheu the call came for afternoon tea. This over, Mr W. H. H. Foster, chairman of the School Committee, thanked Mr Lancaster and his son for their kindness in again placing their fine grounds at the disposal ol the rcsi-

dents. All present missed Mrs Lancaster .very much, it being the first occasion for | many years that she had misled a picnic. ■Mr Foster expressed the hope that Mrs Lancaster would soon bo out of hospital and restored to health. Mr Lancaster stated that he and his family enjoyed tbo picnic as much as the children did, and it was an excellent opportunity for mooting old I friends. He was only too pleasod to have | everyone present, and congratulated tile I committee on their work on behalf of the j school. The head teacher was also dcservi ing of the greatest credit for his wonderful organisation in connection with a lengthy sports programme. Mr Lancaster expressed thanks to all for the j kind reference to Mrs Lancaster, who was I almost well enough to return home. 1 Several novelty events completed the day’s programme, after which the children and adluts were provided with ice-cream, fruit and sweets.
