Kinklc, who is engaged in tho Pukuranga Hunt Cup, was responsible for some good performances last season, and will be hard to beat if produced in the form that brought him dual success —the Greeenlano Steeplechase and the Tamaki Steeplechase —at. the Groat Northern meeting. From the same stable as Hanover and Hirangi, an Awapuni horse engaged in the Greenmount Steeplechase is Ika. The Little England gelding, who is on the minimum, can jump, and had a run on the fiat in the Ladios’ Bracelet at the recent special Manawatu Hunt, meeting. Electric Flash, who is entered for tho Greenmount Steeplechase and Pakuranga Hunt. Cup was second in both these events two seasons ago. . " King Rod, who appears m the Pakuranga Hunt Cup field, was only started on three occasions last season awl, after being placed in two steeplechases at the Auckland spring meeting, won the Waikato Hunt Cup at Cambridge last Labour Day. He lias not raced since, but. has done well at Ellcrslie recently. Kilonsa, who is to race in the . Jellicoe Handicap, has started only once since she was third in the Cornwall . Handicap, but has done a gciod preparation, and is in “ Philcourt,,’ who was a winner as a two-year-old last season, is engaged in tl\c Admiralty Handicap. The young Awapuni mentor, C. Thomson, is gradually building up a good team. Two useful sorts now joining his stable are Renascar (Musketoon—Snowshoe) and War Lap. At a sale of bloodstock in Ashhurst yesterdav the Colossus—Alusical Moments gelding Maestro was offered on behalf of Mr M B. de Malinanche, but did not change'hands, as there was a substantial reserve. Offered on behalf of Mi 1. i, Richards, War Lap was passed in at 90 guinea*. Other horses offered were the ware Royal Qpeen (in foal to Alchenijo bought for lOOgns by Mr W. Brotherstone (Woodville), and the three-year-old geld ing Renascor, sold for 62Agns to Mr AI. Priest (Pahiatua), who also secured the brood mare Royal Vanity. A bay filly bv Alusketoon from Royal Queen went to Mr 11. T. Whale (Marton) for 52igns, while Mr 11. E. Edmunds (Palmerston North)

took a bay tilly by Muskotoon out of Tallulah. The four-year-old maro Dorigo, in foal to Lackham, brought 42jgns. Several trotters were subsequently sold, 37gns, being paid by Mr R. J. Byrne (Hawera) for Native Worry. Native Guy brought guineas, and a two-year-old bay filly by Great Parrish out of Nelson Girl fetched 15gns.
