FIGURES INCREASED.
BRITISH BIRTH-RATE. LONDON, Nor. 11. Tlie British birth-rate last year showed the first inereaus for many years. The figures were 14.8 a thousand, compared with 14.7 in 1935 and 14.4 in 1933. which is the lowest ever recorded. The county of Durham, one of the worst depressed areas, had the highest rate, 17.3, disproving the theory that unemployment is to blame for the decline of population.
