FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN. BRITISH CABINET’S DECISION. t ANOTHER VESSEL TORPEDOED. (United Press Association—By Electric '1 elegraph.—Copyright.) Received beptember 3, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 2. The British Cabinet has decided to send more destroyers, to the Mediterranean. . It has accepted tlie French proposal to discuss tlie security oi shipping at Geneva on September 10. An unknown submarine torpedoed the British tanker Woodford, bound from Barcelona to Valencia, 18 miles from the Spanish, coast. The second engineer was killed and six of the crew injured. They have been landed at Benicarlo. x The Woodford, a vessel of 6987 tons, was formerly Greek-owned but she was recently bought by the newly-formed Finchley Steamship Coinpiiny, which own the Romford, the vessel bombed last week. Tlie Woodford, which is manned chiefly by foreigners, was carrying fuel oil from Rumania to Barcelona where she was unable to discharge, accordingly going on to Valencia.
A Paris message says that the submarine was painted grey and had no identification marks. ♦ The Woodford sunk within a few hours.
