NEW ZEALAND AMATEURS. CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. "With a fine display of, billiards, including a spectacular break of 82, E. N. Stewart (Dunedin) beat L. JHoldsworth (Auckland) in a match at the Y.M.C.A. rooms this morning in the New Zealand amateur billiards championship. The game ended in favour of Stewart by 666 to 516. In a one-sided contest this afternoon C. E. Peek (Wellington) proved much too good for S. G. Stephens (Hokitika). The Wellington man won by the wide margin of 121 points. Neither player could reproduce the form he showed in the first round. The youthful Hokitika player had a day off and could do nothing right. Peek was also much below tho form ho showed as runner-up for the Wellington championship this season. A long-drawn-out contest, which lasted about 3J- hours, saw Peek win by 666 to 545.
