HOUSEHOLD HINTS.
A rubber hot-water bottle should never be put away flat, as the sides rest against each other, and stick together. A better plan is to blow into the empty bottle apd then screw up quickly. The air will keep the sides apart, and avoid the danger of leaks developing. An easy and quick way to draw threads in linen for hemstitching is to make a lather and apply over the fabric. Allow tliis to dry, and the threads will draw quite easily. Cake tins greased and sprinkled with a mixture of equal parts of flour and fine sugar save the trouble of lining with -paper, and this prevents cakes from ■ sticking. If' a garment has become stained with perspiration, do not attempt to wash it until the stain has been treated. Soak the part for about a quarter of an hour in cold water, then rub with .a cut- lemon. Let the juice soak in well, but not longer than two minutes. Then rinse thoroughly in cold water and wash as usual.
