IN AID OF BROTHERS’ SCHOOL. A highly popular community sing, organised by the St. Patrick’s jumble stall committee, with Mrs C. G. Hayward in charge, and with Mr W. H. Brown as stage manager, was held in the Opera House last evening in aid of the Brothers’ i School Fund. The leaders were Messrs Frank Crowther and W. Mason, of Wellington, and M r McCarthy, comedian, of 2YD. Mr Mason kept the audience in a constant stream of mirth, and the numerous popular pianoforte tunes which flowed from Mr Crowther’s talented 'fingers kept the audienoe singing many old and new favourites. Mr McCarthy was also an outstanding success.

Several eccentric dances were performed by, Mr T. Allan, and Miss B. Muir danced the intricate steps of two tap numbers. Xylophone solos by Mr F. Gedson brought well-merited applause, «6 did the Palmerston North piano-accordion band and the selections of Gedson’s Aces. Mr Mason paid a tribute to the zeal Mr Brown had shown in organising the community sing while Mr Brown, in turn, thanked all who had contributed to the success of the evenirig. , , Credit is due to Mr C. G. Hayward and helpers for their capable management of the front of the house. During the coarse of the programme manv donations ''were intimated by telephone and otherwise, and as the house was fully ta.xed, the resultant addition to the funds should be a most gratifying one.
