MUTINY REPORTED.
JAPANESE OFFICERS KILLED.
TROUBLE AT MUKDEN.
LONDON, Sept. 1. Manchurian soldiers at Mukden are reported to have mutinied against their Japanese officers, many of whom were killed. Another regiment at diankpai is reported to have deserted, China has launched a liberty loan of £30,000,000 at 4 per cent., redeemable in 30 years from 1941.
Eight thousand Chinese have sailed from Saigon for Hong Kong to enlist in the Chinese army. The Japanese air raids at Canton have embittered the Chinese at Hong Kong, resulting in hostile crowds gathering, before the Japanese shops. The Government is concentrating 1300 Japanese for protection, and 200 women and children af% leaving for Japan to-morrow. Tokio reports that • the Emperor,: wearing the Shinto robes of his high priestly office, worshipped at three sanctuaries in the Imperial Palace and prayed for victory for the army. The liner President Hoover, which was bombed off Shanghai some days ago, arrived at Kobe. Her shattered appearance caused great excitement. The purser said that one of the six bombs dropped struck one of the funnels, which crumpled up.
