WEDDING.
DAN DO—HOCKINGThe home of Mr and Mrs T. Hocking, No. 29 liuahine Street, was the scene of a very pretty wedding oil the evening of November 11, the occasion being tho marriage of their youngest daughter, Vera, to Arthur Kelvin, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr A. Dando, late of Nelson. Rev. A. N. Scot ter officiated. The drawing-room was prettily decorated with pink roses set off with an intermingling of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. As the bride entered the drawing-room tho Wedding March was played by her sister, Mrs P. Dri.nkwp.ter. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in pale pink silk angelskin lace, made on classical lines. The bodice was made with a high neck-line, finished at throat with a pink velvet rose. The skirt was clcse-fitting to the knees P.nd flared to a short train. A beautiful pink tulle veil, prettily embroidered, was beconiinglv arranged with orange • blossoms. Pink shoes, with stockings to match, were worn. A bouquet of pelargoniums, roses, cyclamen and maidenhair fern completed a dainty toilette. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs E. Johansen, as matron ot honour, who. was attired in n. becoming frock of navy blue silk marocain with beige tonings. and smart, navy straw hat to match. She carried abouquet of roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. The • bridegroom was a ttended by the bride’s brother, Mr C. Hooking. Dlrs Hocking, the bride’s mother, was attired in a neat brown ensemble with accessories to tone, and carried a nesv of orange .Japanese lanterns and * rosebuds. The' bridegroom’s mother chose a smart ensemble of navy and cherry red. with accessories to tone, and carried a posy of red kalanchoe, cyclamen and fern. After the ceremony and the visit to the photographer’s, the bridal party and guests adjourned for the reception to the spacious dining-room, which was exquisitely decorated in a colour scheme of pink. Here they sat down to a bounteous breakfast, the tables being charmingly arrayed with innumerable flowers, lupins -and carnations predominating. The usual folicitious toasts were honoured. At the conclusion of the reception'the bridal party kindly visited the bridegroom's brother, Athol, who is ill and was un-
able to attend tbe wedding. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of a large array of costly and useful presents, a striking testimony to tiie esteem in which they are held. Later, amidst showers of confetti and with good wishes, Mr and Mrs Dando journeyed south for their honeymoon. The bride wore a smart American model frock of navy French crepe with a becoming hat to tone. Their future homo will.be at Foxtou. Prior to the wedding, the bride was the guest of honour at several gift functions tendered to her by her many friends.
