KENNEL CLUB’S SHOW.

Southwell Kennels, Palmerston North, secured a great win at the New Plymouth kennel club show, which was held in conjunction with tho Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society’s show last week. Miss E. I. S. Piper’s rough coated collie champion, Southwell St. Patrick, secured major honours, being made best of all breeds by the judge, Mr D. T. Sinclair, of Napier. This dog was entered lor the open class, and in addition to winning the class against hot competition from the Auckland district, was awarded the New Plymouth Kennel Club’s specials for best dog or bitch (rough, smooth and bearded), best stud dog in show, the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society’s specials for best dog or bitch in show, any breed, best dog or bitch, r.c. collies, and the New Zealand Collie Club’s special for best r.c. collie dog. In criticising the entries the judge stated that the collies were a very pleasing collection, probably the best class m the show. The winning animal was a very fine specimen shown in perfect condition. It was quite tho best of its breed that he had seen lately, and it fully deserved its place as best dog in the show. In addition to the above win, two puppies, Southwell’s St. Timothy and Southwell Peter, were entered in the puppy under twelve months, and secured second and third’ places respectively to Mr A. J. Patterson’s Faithful of Glen Avon. The winning pup was four and a half months older than the Palmerston North dogs.
