MOONEE VALLEY RACES. COURSE RECORD IN STEEPLES. MELBOURNE, June 14. At the Moonec Valley races the Grand National candidate, El Damaroyal, won the Trayancore Steeples in most attractive fashion in course record time. The winner has the m’nimum weight in tho Grand National Steeples. Results: — TRAVANCORE STEEPLES, of £SOO. About two miles, three furlongs and a half.—El Damaroyal, 9.4 (Maher), 1; Santa Cass, 9.6, 2; Wanconnor, 9.13, 3. Thirteen started. Four lengths; a length and threequarters. Time, 4.47 a. DEEP CREEK HANDICAP, of £SOO. One mile aid three furlongs.—Jack Ilorner 7.10 (Preston), 1: Gallibrook, 8.2, 2; Alnric, 8.0. 3. Eight started, including Greenhorn. Two lengths: a length. Time, 2.26. Cape Race ran second in the Windarrn I-lurdle Race; Gay Urmette was unplaced in the Burnewang Handicap; and Desert Chief mi second in the Greenvalo Welter, in which Radiant Star, Ep'gram, atc md Whornsido were unplaced. CHIEF RULER COLT. ADELAIDE, June 14. The Chief Ruler colt The Riff won the main event at the L'censed Victuallers’ races. Result: —Winter Handicap, one mile and three furlongs: The Riff, 7.11 (Bnstian), 1; Yuhewirra, 8.12, 2; Yaroo, 8.0, 3. Thirteen started. Half a neck; a length and three-quarters. Time, 2.19^. ROSEHILL RACES. WIN FOR OMARERE. SYDNEY, June 14. At tho Rosehill races tho following was the result of the Juvenilo Stakes, of £l5O. For two-year-olds. Second division: Omarero, 8.7 (MeCarten), 1; Watchnuii, 8.7, 2; Hermione, 8.6, 3. Eighteen started. A length; a length. Time, SO^sec. Predcrgast and Odilion were unplaced in the third division of tho same race; Rosebud was unplaced in the Three-year-old ILiidicap; Collstar third in the June Handicap; Golden Chance second in tho Dundas Handicap; and Golden Gnte third in the Parramatta Milo, in which Lovesong c■ id Maestro were unplaced.
A cable message from Sydney states that the New Zealand studmaster, Mr G. Al. Currie, after visiting G. Price’s stables, said he was impressed by the manner in which Gold Rod had developed s’ncc he left New Zealand as a yearling. Mr Currie was also interested in the progress of Ilium, Omarere, Egmont, and Loud Applause.
