RECORD TO LOVELOCK.
THREE-MILE EVENT. LONDON, June, 13. In an inter-club contest for the Kinnaird Trophy at the White City, J. E. Lovelock, New Zealand, representing the Achilles club, won the three miles in .14 minutes 20 beating Hadland (Polytechnic) by 12 yards. The New Zealander ran easily with the leaders throughout the race, sprinted over the final 100 yards, and won amid enthusiasb . A. K. G. Brown won the 100 yards in 9.9 seconds, beating A. W. Sweeney, British and Empire Games champion, by inches. Brown won the quarter-imle in 48.3 seconds, a record for the contest, beating G. L. Rampling, British record holder, by a yard. NURMI RECORD LOWERED. PRINCETON, June 14. Donald Ray Lash, 22-year-old Indiana University student, to-day shattered Nurmi’s two-mile record. Lash’s time, Bmin. 58,35ec., compares with Bmin. 59.65ee. established in 1931 by Nurmi.
