Mr J. Hossack, who reached Sydney last week on the Alongolia, en route to New Zealand, is a master at the famous Royal High School, at Edinburgh, an historic educational institution which was founded in the 12th century, and at which the late King Edward VII. was educated. Air Hossack, who is accompanied by his wife, is going to do a year’s exchange duty at the Otago Boys’ High School. Early in the week Rt. Rev. Dr. Aubin,~ Bishop-elect of the Southern Solomons, began to feel a recurrence of malaria similar to that contracted in the Islands more * than 27 years ago. Yesterday the illness proved more severe than anticipated, and Bishop Aubin was ordered by his doctor to a private hospital in Wellington. The ceremony of episcopal consecration set down for to-morrow has been postponed. ■.. Constable A. B. Collinge, who has left Palmerston North for Auckland on transfer after being stationed for five and a half years at this centre, was met at the Police Station yesterday by representatives of all sections of tlie Police Force in the city and presented with a chiming clock as a mark of esteem. The presentation was made by Inspector S. llawle, wlio said Constable Collinge liad had tlie best of associations with all liis colleagues. Other speakers, all wishing the departing officer the best of luck for his future advancement, were Senior-Sergeant T. Aloriarty, Constable A. AlcGowan and Detective E. Barling. Constable Collinge suitably replied. The death occurred at liis home in Auckland yesterday of Air George A. Green, at the age of 68. Air Green, who was orgamsing-secretary of the New Zealand Horticultural Society, was well-known to all flower lovers in Palmerston North and throughout the Dominion. Alany years ago he was engaged in tlie nursery business and later lie became organiser of the Horticultural Trades Association, which embodies the Nurserymen’s Association and also seedsmen’s and florists’ societies. Air Green had unlimited energy in .evoking the support of others in the direction of realising his ideals. It was largely due to liis energy that the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture was created. Air Green took a great interest also in the citrus industry and published a valuable report a few years ago. He is survived by his widow, two sons and one daughter.
