( From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Sept. 27.
An enjoyable euchre, table tennis tournament and dance was held in the hall on Wednesday night, this being the final evening of the fortnightly functions which have been well patronised by the euchre and table tennis enthusiasts during the winter months. Cards and table tennis wore enjoyed until 10 p.m., when supper was served and the floor cleared for dancing, the music being kindly supplied by B'Jrs Hewitt, whilst the duties of BLC. were carried out by Blr T. I’aton. Tho results of the entertainment were as follow: Card winners, Blrs BlcLachlan 1, consolation Mrs O. Kerrigan; men, BJr Hewitt, senr., 1, consolation, Blr BlcLachlan. Ping pong winners: Bliss 81. Woodroofc and Mr Leslie Hackett. Bir W. Brewer (chairman of tho Hall Committee) presented the card trophies for the season, the ladies’ points prize being won by Bfrs 11. Blaul (66), whilst Blrs Harris was the runner-up with 61 points; tho men’s points prize was won by Air L. Hackett with 731,, the runner-up being Bir F. Crisp (64£). A special trophy, which was kindly donated by Blcssrs Parkes and Co., was won by Bir 81. Doreen, who played off with Blrs W. Hoskins and Bir E. Biorris. Bir Brewer stated that the proceeds from ihese functions were in aid of tho Public Hall funds which had benefited by the amount of approximately £l2, credit being duo to the happy and energetic helpers responsible for the arrangements, whom he thanked most sincerely. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club is to take piace at an early date, when tho election of officers will take place and the report and balance-sheet will b,e received. The date of the opening of the season will also be decided. The friends of Blrs J. Fox will be pleased to learn that she has returned home from hospital.
