BANKERS’ ANNUAL TOURNEY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept, 24. Upwards of forty officers of branches of the Bank of Now Zealand at Palmerston North, Wanganui, Marton, Fcilding, I’ahi. atua, Kimbolton, JJangawcka, Huntorvillc, and Bulls engaged in the annual match, which was played on the Kangitikei Golf Club’s links at Bulls on Monday (Dominion Day). The weather was fine, and the day proved a most enjoyable one, the hospitality extended to the visitors being of a high order. The Bankers’ Cup was won by Mr N. 11. Hume, of Palmerston North, and at me conclusion of the games the trophies wore presented by Mr. K A. Caldow. Cheers were given for the winners, and tor the Bulls players. A teams’ match was played in conjunction with the medal rounds, the Palmer=ion North team winning with an aggregate of 292; the Wanganui team being close up with 294. The teams were placed as follow:—Palmerston North A : Ashby, Hume, MeWatters and Clayton, 292. Wanganui: Brinkman, Ross, Blundell and Grummitt, 294. Fcilding: Carmine, Allen, McCorkindalc and Bush, 303. Pahiatua: Howdon. Robertson, Walker and Irving, 308; Palmerston North B: Wesncy, Taylor, Guinness, and Murray, 316. Competitors engaged in a bogey match in the morning, 35 teeing off. The best card was returned by L. W. Franke (Marton), who was 2 up. The runner-up was K. L. AlcWatters (Palmerston North), 1 up. Next in order were: L. Brinkman, C. E. Irving, L. ,7. Carmine, 1 down; M. A. Robertson, M. E. Alexander, M. R. Mansell, F. M. Fisher, J. Ross, A. Thompson, P. J. llowdcn. 2 down; .7. M. Taylor. R. A. Blundell, A. W. Walker, 3 down; H. J. Hendry, A. E. J. Ashby, F. K. Clayton, 4 down; Guinness. A. M. Bush, 5 down; and J. I. Moodic, 6 down.
Thirty-four took part in the chief event, and despite a rising wind the conditions were very pleasant. The result was a tie between N. 11. Hume and A. E. J. Ashby, and in order to avoid a play-off (as when Hi. A, Robertson, of Pahiatua defeated Blundell and llowdcn by candle-light last year), a count back was made. The last six holes were all square, but at the 7th Hume had a two to Ashby's three, and therefore gained the cup. The cards read as follow:—N. 11. Hume (Palmerston North), 82—14—68; A. E. J.
