AOKAUTERE
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AOKAUTERE, Sept. 24. There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Aokautere Tennis Club, Mr W. Anderson presiding. The president’s report showed the club to' have had a very successful season. some interesting inter-club matches having been played. The balance-sheet ■showed a very satisfactory credit balance and the club is to bo congratulated on its financial position. It is the intention to proceed with the construction of the new concrete court as scon as finances permit. The election of officers for the ensuing year- resulted as follows: President, j\lr Wm. Anderson; vice-presidents, Messrs R. R Scott. F. Judd, A. Ferguson, ’L. Craven, IV. It. Hopcroft, M. . Krisfenscn and J. P. Robertson; lion, secretary and treasurer. Miss M. Anderson; lion, auditor, Mr F. Cough; club captain, Air J. Woods. Arrangements were completed for the opening day, to bo hold on September 28, when it is hoped all last vear’s members and any new members will be present. Matters concerning the now courts wore discussed, and it was decided to hold a “working bee,” when it is hoped that the clay 'surfacing will bo completed. After some discussion it was agreed to hold a euchre and dance early next month, the proceeds to be devoted to the funds for the new court. The subscription for the ensuing year is to remain the same as for last season. Tbe president expressed the club’s thanks to those members who had kindly donated trophies for the tennis and euchre parties during the season, to Mr AV. R. Hopcroft for the use of his court for inter-club matches and to all who had' assisted in any way during the past year.
